Dana Murray-Robbins, director of marketing for all Bookmans locations says that although they dont currently offer any book clubs at the stores, there are programs for young readers. "We have a Kids Club program, where children fill out an application at one of the stores, with a parents signature. They receive a packet of goodies at that time, and also receive a membership card which entitles them to a 10% discount on all their purchases. During the month of their birthday, Bookmans mails them a postcard good for $5 free merchandise."
Ms. Murray-Robbins also says that the stores are open to kids who want to start their own book clubs like Julia Brown did. "If anyone is interested, they need to give us a written proposal, and we would be happy to work with them," she says.
Both Bookmans locations also offer the frequent reader program for kids. Children can read 10 books, write a paragraph on each book, and bring their paragraphs to the store to receive one free book.
