Parenting &
Eco-Businesses
If you are a parent, you probably know how many products are currently on the market for parents and their children. How do you find a niche of your own in the parenting business market and make money while being ecologically responsible? There are a growing number of parents finding their business wings and growing their own businesses while practicing a unique parenting style. It is called Attachment Parenting, and it focuses on the needs of the child as she becomes securely attached to her parents and family. Attachment Parenting has hundreds of email lists and support groups, and there are national conventions and many catalogs and magazines that promote Attachment Parenting.
Attachment Parenting, or Natural Parenting, as it is called by some, is based on a back to nature and ecologically responsible ethic. Christine Hansen, a freelance writer who practices Attachment Parenting and writes frequently about the topic, says that Attachment Parenting is responding sensitively to your child's needs, using whatever tools and techniques are appropriate to your situation. For example, Attachment Parents practice baby-wearing, co-sleeping, bonding after birth, non-violent discipline, and breastfeeding. "I think that when you treat a child gently, you are teaching that child to be gentle, not only with other people, but also with the planet as well." says Christine.
