Tucson Children’s Museum
Excited About the Future

The Tucson Children’s Museum is already a favorite of many families in the Old Pueblo, but the future is looking brighter than ever – and a whole lot cooler! The museum has been closed since August 21st, and will remain closed until the 26th of this month for the installation of a new heating/cooling system. This should make visitors a lot more comfortable as they participate in the exhibits and activities.

Other exciting news - the air conditioner isn’t the only new arrival at the museum. Sheila Saxberg, the new Executive Director, brings almost 20 years of children’s museum expertise to Tucson. Coming to us from Cincinnati, Saxberg says she has many objectives for the Tucson Children’s Museum. Hesitant to commit to exact details of future plans until they are through all the red tape, Saxberg sums up her dreams by saying that she wants the museum to be able to offer a whole lot more to the community. "There are activities that we are interested in offering that we just don’t have the space to offer currently," she says. She says she would also like to offer additional exhibits that would cater to both the younger and older groups of children. "I would like to see more activities for toddlers, as well as a science section for early teens," says Saxberg.
