Redington Land & Cattle Co.

"City Slickers" may have an idea of the ranching life as glamorous, John Wayne or Ponderosa style. However, this is just not the way it was. Ranchers worked grueling hours helping calves be born and then feeding and tending to the herd. The Redington Land & Cattle Co. is truly an authentic trip back in time to the Old West. Visitors can help Don and Barbara tend to the animals, clean the pastures and corrals, fix fences, and feed and water the livestock. Regular visitors have been known to come just to drive some of the heavy equipment Don keeps for ranch maintenance.

If you are not interested in working, the ranch offers horseback riding, cattle drives, pack trips, and wagon rides. Because there will be no other guests, visitors receive the owner’s undivided attention (or solitude, whichever is preferred) and can choose the custom vacation of their dreams. You can ride into the hills and see unobstructed for a hundred miles. Or perhaps you want to shoot authentic six guns with Don, who is a NRA certified instructor. Wildlife is abundant, and mountain lions, deer, coyotes and other animals can all be seen on their way to the San Pedro River for water. About eight mountain ranges can be seen from the ranch, and the views are spectacular!

Days on the ranch can be made up of as much or as little activity as you desire. There are horses suitable for both experienced and beginning riders, and visitors with disabilities have ridden with the real cowboys on the ranch. If you come at the right time of year, you can participate in the roundup and branding of the cattle, or plan a trip overnight to the backcountry via Jeep
